PreS-Gr 3–In this entertaining introduction to the Spanish language, basic vocabulary is presented in an easy-to-follow format. Areas explored include colors, numbers, action words, body parts, and the alphabet—all reinforced with fun and lively songs. Children of all ages are shown playing and engaging in other activities that demonstrate words like stand, sit, and walk. Vocabulary words are spoken in Spanish and then in English. Spanish words are shown onscreen, followed by the English translation. The intent of the program is to expose children to the language so that they can learn how to converse in Spanish, not just memorize the vocabulary. The live-action format and catchy tunes enhance this informative production. This title will help youngsters build a solid foundation for developing fluency in Spanish, and also could be used as a review of vocabulary for older children.

Enhanced with the easy-to-follow format for children and parents alike, Mom, Dad And ME© Aprendemos Espanol opens with an introduction followed by Aprendemos Espanol (let's learn Spanish), Los colores (colors), Vamos a jugar con pelota (let's play ball!), Los numeros (nubers), Los pollitios (the little chicks), El abecedario (the alphabet), Las partes del cuerpo (parts of the body), La arana chiquitica (the itsy-bitsy spider), mandatos (commands), Los elefantes (the elephants), Veinte burbujas (twenty bubbles), and creditos (credits). Mom, Dad And ME© Aprendemos Espanol is a fun and informative introduction and in-depth education on the Spanish language for parents an children alike, very highly recommended for its easily followed mapping of its content, and such the informative and irreplaceable lessons it teaches.

Mom, Dad, & ME© Aprendemos Español is a learning tool designed to help children between the ages of 2 and 10 learn to speak Spanish. Unlike traditional learning videos where the emphasis on learning is on the televised instructor(s), Mom, Dad, & ME© Aprendemos Español places the emphasis on learning on parent-child interaction.

First, both parent and child learn from Gloria Novak’s voice overs, cute skits, and students, then the parents are instructed to continue the lessons outside of the video sessions, thus requiring more parent-child interaction and repetition in everyday life.

Truth is: I loved this video! It’s educational, easy to understand, and fun to watch.

My fifteen year old son came home from his baseball game to catch me doing my bills and repeating the lessons as I ran the video. He laughed and said, “Mom, who’d you get this video for again? MyKaela or you?” I giggled and said, “I can’t help it. It’s catchy! I just wish they made them this fun for adults. I sure would love to increase my Spanish vocabulary!”
